NEW Field Is Now OPEN

The field is looking good now, with lush green grass all over, which has been cut several times now. With the exception of the weather, The field is being used virtually every day.

Probably due to the new facilities we have provided, The club membership has increased by almost 100%, this is a fantastic achievement which all members of the committee must be congratulated.

The slabs and the safety fences and the car park are all complete, the port-a-cabin has power and heating, tea and coffee is provided (for a small donation please). We have also several field tables which are used for the assembling of models (saves the old back)

Interested?? Why not come along and see for yourself.

We are currently located on the B757 Birdston Road about half way between Kirkintilloch and Milton of Campsie. From Kirkintilloch we are about 1 1/2 miles from the MacDonald’s on the left of the road, entrance is via the Red Gate.

We now have a purpose built field, which is well maintained with virtually no obstructions. As we share with the local gun club, there are some restrictions at the field; usually the first Sunday of the month is gun club only.

With exception to the gun club we have access 9am to 8pm every day

We accommodate most types of radio controlled model aircraft, including fixed wing, multi-engine, helicopters and gliders.

Free instruction to novice members is offered, with the expectation that they will give instruction free to future novice members.

The club is affiliated to the SAA and operate to their safety code and achievement scheme.

OPEN DAY

Well what a day, the official opening day was a huge success, and the weather could not have been more perfect.

The burgers and sausage rolls ran out about 4pm after selling around 200, the tea and coffee stall made a small fortune, and then the auction brought in hundreds of Pounds, all in all around the £600 mark was raised and will be donated to a local charity.

Councillor Mr Charles Kennedy officially opened the site for us at around 10am; flying was fantastic with some of the models being of world class spec.

We expected around 30-50 cars to attend “NO WAY” around 90-100 cars attended on the day meaning the intended hover area was used as a spill over car park.

It was amazing to see so many people attend the day.

We would like to thank those members from Waterfoot, Cumbernauld, Hamilton, CVF, if I missed out your club (I apologise).

The field was given the thumbs up by loads of other club members, saying it was a fantastic facility.

Not bad for four months work, is it? I am sure you will agree that the club has turned the corner and has moved on from the Queens View way of life.

Thanks to all that attended, much appreciated. And to those members that did not attend, “you know how you are” your loss!!
